Chu-Mikal's is a small family business, owned and operated by Michael (Mike) and Margarita Raupe. In 1989, after many years working at the locally owned Dan's Hambugers, the two decided to venture out on their own and opened Chubby's, now known as Chu-Mikal's Café.
Our first location was a quaint six table café located off of South First with a mere four parking spots. It was a great place for quick takeout and dining. None the less, in a short few years the patronage grew to the point where we had to relocate to our current East 7th location.
Throughout the years Chu-Mikal's Café has been featured in the Austin American Statesman and The Austin Chronicle for our unique Salvadoran menu, great prices and quality meals. When starting the business many of our seven children helped operate the restaurant. Now 20 years later, it is not uncommon to still see at least one of the children still helping out, with catering or at one of the cafeterias located in well known businesses throughout Austin.
Stop in sometime and chat with us, Mike and Margarita. We are always here!
